Hainan South China Sea Institute of Tropical Ocean （HITO） is a non-profit provincial scientific research institution, established in June 2003. The director, Mr. Chen Hong, is one of the top ten people who moved Hainan in 2017. After years of development, the institute has initially established a marine biological scientific research institution with tropical marine characteristics. Since the establishment of the institute, it has undertaken a series of scientific research and management projects such as the United Nations, the Global Environment Fund, the country, the province, city and county, and has achieved positive results, contributing to my country's marine ecological construction, promoting the development of the marine economy and assisting Hainan's international tourism. contribute positively to the construction of the island.

The institute can carry out marine ecological investigation and construction, technical research on marine organisms and disease prevention and control, investigation and testing of marine biological environment, technical services for large marine aquariums (with an investment of over 100 million yuan), species identification, as well as marine aquaculture, Research and technology promotion of aquatic vaccines, etc. Since its establishment, the institute has been developing along the way, and has achieved a series of scientific and technological achievements in coral, seagrass, red tide, unicornis, astaxanthin, and bio-armor technology for coastal protection.
