Our Works

CORALS

Since the establishment in 2003, our institute has been engaged in the research of coral reefs, and has cultivated the largest number of corals in China, with a number of more than 200,000 plants, and developed a series of technologies such as coral reproduction, disease prevention and repair. Therefore, we have formed our own characteristics of coral research in China. We have successively undertaken research projects of the United Nations Development Program and the State Oceanic Administration, and have also won a series of major scientific and technological projects for coral design in the 12th and 13th Five-Year Plan of Hainan Province. Our institute has successfully held two Coral Reef International Forums and is currently preparing for the third forum.

SEAWEEDS

The research on seagrass beds focuses on the propagation and cultivation technology of seagrass seedlings in tropical seas, and invented the method of pressing seedlings to solve the problem of seagrass seedlings floating and promote the cultivation and growth of seagrass.

RED TIDE

In the research on red tide prevention and control, in the lagoons on the southeast coast of Hainan Island, thousands of red tide occurrences have been found or predicted in 13 years, the mechanism of their occurrence has been studied, and a short-term early warning method has been established. It is of great significance for ecological protection and sustainable development.

TRIDACNA

In the past three years, through the cultivation of clam clam seedlings and the monitoring of gonads, the leading technology for the reproduction and cultivation of clam clam has been established, which has laid a solid foundation for the industrial production of clam clam and the restoration of its ecosystem.

RESEARCH on ISLAND GREENING

It is mainly to solve the problems of salt resistance and no fresh water irrigation of greening tree species. Through the breeding and cultivation experiments of tree species, the greening technology of the island without fresh water has been successfully solved. The application of this technology will solve hundreds of millions of yuan for the country to green the island. The expenditure of funds also provides key technical support for the stability of islands and reefs.
